Nokia N97 Available for O2 and Orange Pre-Order

You can now pre-order the Nokia N97 on O2 or Orange at Mobiles.co.uk.

Nokia N97 Smartphone

It could be argued that Nokia is a coming late to the touchscreen smartphone party, but with the capability of the N97, it's intentions are clear, it wants to capture some of the smartphone market back from Apple. Nokia is billing it's new phone as "the world's most advanced mobile computer" and naturally it's enabled with all the latest communications standards such as HSDPA mobile broadband, Wi-Fi, GPS, 3G and Bluetooth. The N97 is also stronger in the camera department than the current iPhone, having a 5 megapixel camera with Carl Zeiss optics and dual LED flash. The smartphone is also likely to score highly for usability, as it was designed with the use of your favourite internet sites such as Facebook in mind, and it has a proper slide out Qwerty keyboard whereas many other smartphones make do with onscreen software keyboards.

Nokia is also hoping that developers will build third party apps for the N97 and has recently lauched its Ovi Store as its answer to Apple's App Store. Unlike the current iPhone, the Nokia N97 will also be able to play Flash videos. The phone runs the Symbian S60 operating system and is e-mail and instant messaging capable. It's certainly going to interest smartphone fans, but will face stiff competition from rivals like HTC, Blackberry and Apple, especially with the rumoured launch of a new iPhone this summer.
